CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry (Release 2)

Course Description

Prepare to work safely in the construction industry unit describes how to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

Selection Criteria

Although there are no “entry requirements specified in the accredited course documents, all participants must provide their USI before their certificate can be issued. Students must have a basic level of language, literacy and numeracy, as they will need to be able to read and understand sections of the relevant Australian Legislation

Mode of Assessment

Training and assessment will take place within the 4 hour period allocated for the course. Assessment must be used to verify underpinning knowledge and skills and competence against this unit of competency. Assessment must be valid, reliable, flexible, fair and consistent. All assessment must be completed in accordance with work health and safety standards.

NAT10830001 – Prevent crystalline silica exposure    (Release 06, Release 25 November 2019)

Course Description

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to recognise and mitigate the workplace health and safety risks and hazards of working with crystalline silica containing products.

It requires the ability to source and interpret information to assess the level of risk involved in a cutting, drilling or abrading task and to determine a safe system of work for the prevention of exposure to crystalline silica dust.

Course Description

Asbestos Awareness course is designed to provide the knowledge and skill for individuals to be able to identify a range of asbestos products and materials and be able to report the material to the relevant person or Authority.
